Ludacris - MVP (Produced by DJ Premier) [CDQ]

Ludacris - “MVP” (Produced by DJ Premier)What I really like about this collaboration is that Luda doesn’t adjust his flow tremendously to suit the track. It’s the other way around — Premier tailor-made this beat for Luda’s unique flow. Sure he’s rhyming a tad bit slower than usual but it’s comes off as natural. “MVP” [...]

Stax Brix - Stepping Stone

Stax Brix could just be another hustler from the heartbeat but the Rapper/ Street Poet has risen above expectations. The self made artist started his own label Dirty Pockets Productions to push his brothers (Balla P) music. When Balla P was incarcerated for armed robbery and sentenced to ten flat he had to adjust his plans. He decided to move from behind the scenes and fill the void in front of the mic himself. Overcoming and adapting to unexpected hardships has become a skill and part of his survival. Never wanting to be in the spotlight himself Stax spends the majority of his time helping artist & political causes through his promotion company. Stax tries to bridge the gap between current events and the powers that be. A near impossible mission in today's politically correct culture and mindless bubble gum rap. Part of Stax Brix rise is due to his emphasis on new media and creating his own buzz. A skilled promoter who argues like a politician. The right mindset and a new approach has Stax starting the year with several opportunities.

Jadakiss Asked To Change Album Title, Denies Retirement

Jadakiss was forced to change the name of his upcoming solo album after receiving negative feedback from retailers. The project, formerly titled Kiss My Ass has been officially changed to The Last Kiss.

“I had to change the name of my album,” 'Kiss explained in an interview with video show The Best of Both Offices [click to view]. “Kiss My Ass wasn't testing well at retail. Not even with the exclamations or none of that. So we had to switch it to The Last Kiss.”

After changing the title to The Last Kiss, fans felt that this was his way of signifying that it would be his last solo effort. Jada has been quick to dispel any fears of his retirement.

“Some people asked me is it my last album. Nah, it's just ... the first album was Kiss The Game Goodbye, the second one was The Kiss of Death [click to read], so this one was The Last Kiss. It's the closing of a trilogy... It's the last time ‘Kiss’ is going to be in the album titles. This is why this is The Last Kiss.”

Jadakiss also revealed that he will be collaborating with Young Jeezy on a track, and that he is a few songs away from finishing the album. He also said that he may use the title Kiss My Ass for a nearly completed mixtape he plans to put out sometime in the very near future.

The Last Kiss will hit stores on December 9th.

What Happened To G. Dep?

G. Dep, the former Bad Boy Records “Harlem Shake” pioneer, has seen better days. Today Vidz King posted a video of the rapper, who’s been under the radar for years, sitting in a park in New York discussing his desperate strides toward making a comeback.

Most recently, Dep dropped the DJ E.Nyce–hosted mixtape Deponomics. Now he says, “We got the G.Ometry coming soon. We’re trying to holla at Primo [for beats].”

The Harlem native started off as a “cameo rapper” on Bad Boy, before dropping his critically acclaimed debut album, Child of the Ghetto, in 2001. The song featured the hit single “Special Delivery” and "Let's Get It," made the whole world do a goofy dance called the Harlem Shake, and catapulted Dep into blinding star status.

But soon Dep (along with Loon and Black Rob, other fellow Bad Boy artists from the early millennium) quickly saw his career dissolve. On January 15, 2007, Dep was arrested for breaking a display cell phone during an argument with a T-mobile rep, the New York Daily News reported. Dep’s bail was $750. Unable to pay it, he remained locked up in N.Y.’s Rikers Island for 23 days.

Many fans wondered how did things get so bad. Dep admitted to the Daily News that before Child of the Ghetto, he signed a $350,000 five-album contract with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

“There’s a lot of things I should have looked into,” Dep told the Daily News. “At the time, I didn’t think about it too much…. When you got P. Diddy pulling up in the Johnson projects in a sky-blue Bentley, you don’t ask a lot of questions.”

Dep eventually blew the money and fell victim to a drug addiction.

In the World Star Hip Hop video, Dep— wearing a brown hoodie and looking somewhat lost—said that he accepts his current standstill on the label.

“Right now, the situation over there is like, if you’re not in motion, you’re in slow motion,” he said. “So, slow motion is better than nothing. So right now we’re on our grind. We just gon’ get our thing going and y’all gon’ see it live…whenever it happens…it’s going to happen sooner than later.”
